Following a short night, we awoke to a beautiful morning on this wonderful site. The children got washed and dressed and had a big breakfast ready for their journey back in time. For today was the day we became Anglo Saxons!
We arrived at the round house where the fire was lit and learnt various skills needed to be a Saxon. We have peeled and cut vegetables, made mini sausages and oatcakes for our snack, woven on a hand loom some fabric and recognised just how much time and effort was needed to make a simple piece of cloth to make their clothes.
We identified Runes and used these to make pendents of our names whilst we prepared for the battle of the century! This afternoon our camp was invade as we grabbed our shields and charged as only Anglo Saxons can! All great fun and new experiences for us.
We have just had our tea and writing our diaries - looking forward to a slightly earlier night this evening!!!
We have never eaten so much cake!!! Thank you to everyone who supplied us and it will continue to keep our much needed energy levels up!!!
Tomorrow its Low ropes and orienteering swop over and then the greatest challenge of all - packing all our clothes back in to our luggage!!! Looking forward to seeing everyone on our return at the end of the day.
With thanks - all in Year 4!
