Thursday 30th March

Today the children completed farming activities of creating farm masks and favourite meal plates. They really enjoyed using tissue paper and glue. The children then performed a presentation about Zambian farming, including fish, poultry and pasture. This followed with a visit to a local fish farm and we met a local farmer, who harvests 8,000 fish every 4-6 months.

Thank you for all joining the zoom this morning, the Zambian children really enjoyed it.

Wednesday 29th March

Today we spent the day in school, teaching the children Phonics and Maths. The children wrote replies to their pen pals which we will bring back to school. Another great day!

Tuesday 28th March

Today we visited Mopani Copper Mine in Mufulira and had a tour of how copper is made. It was very interesting and visited the training centre, where skills are learnt before entering the mine. Then we visited Malcom Watson Hospital which is owned by the mine, which costs Zambians to be treated there.

Today we were welcomed by the children and staff at Mutunda Primary School. We were overwhelmed with how welcome they made us feel and they waved Great Britain flags as we entered the school gates, presenting us with red roses. They performed a dance and song wearing traditional materials. We were shown around the school and met some of the children- with huge smiles.
