he children studying Rudyard Kipling’s Just So stories as examples of traditional tales to learn about the features of this genre of fiction. The children will learn about the features of the Just So Stories and read examples including ‘How the Zebra got his Stripes’ and move onto choosing their own animal with a distinctive physical characteristic and an explanation of its origin.
On Friday 8th January the children will be taking part in a hook day of a variety of art activities, where they will be learning about a range of different animals and their habitats and developing their drawing skills.
If it is your first day of absence:
Maths - Statistics booklet
English - Research facts about an animal of your choice. Think about their habitat, characteristics, life span, where you would find them in the world, whether they are endangered etc.
Guided Reading - Read the text and answer the questions about drums and drumming.
If it is your second day of absence:
Maths - Multiplication and division booklet
English - Write a non-chronological report about the animal you researched yesterday. You can use the template if needed.
